Post by: dougx on June 28 2012 02:50:01 PM MDT
I have a Glock 22 I shoot 9mm out of with a barrel and mag change.Could you do the same with a 45acp glock or for that matter a 1911?

There are conversion barrels avalible for Glock-21's or Glock-30's from Storm Lake (others used to make conversions from 45 to 10mm) chambered in 10mm...some have changed extractors.  There are also various barrels for 1911 guns but they require info if they are ramped or non-ramped, use a different barrel bushing and possiply a different extractor.  Extractors for the 1911's need to be fitted and properly tensioned.

I know there are guys that do it.  But different beasts.

The diameter of a federal cartridge 9mm I have at the bottom of the extractor groove is .340".  A shorty forty I have, .340".  Starline 10mm, .340".  45 ACP is .400"

So, I bet you would sacrifice a good bit of reliability.

Yes !  I have a g21 converted to 10mm & it runs fine. The newer gen.3  g21 extractors were upgraded from gen.2 & should work fine.

I think it is a 2nd generation G-21 (( I bought it used ) that I have and I have put a barrel from a G-20 and fired it and no FTE. Used my 6" L/W and stock barrel from the G-20, 3rd generation. So I was able to use it w/o any problems
