Title: Considering a FFL03 C&R License
Post by: .3937 on July 04 2013 10:05:54 AM MDT
I'm starting to collect milsurp rifles and am considering getting a C&R license so I can have the rifles mailed directly to me. I'm wondering who here might have one, because another advantage (if there actually be any advantage having anything to do with The Beast) that used to come with having a C&R is the discounts you get with most companies/dealers like Midway etc., but I have been reading that many (most?) of those companies no longer give a discount, since they were made aware C&R licensees do not resell the items they buy from them.

Anyone have a C&R and actively using it? Even if I wasn't going to collect milsurps the ammo discounts alone would make it worth the $30.

I have a C&R FFL. You do get discounts with Brownells, and I have purchased from them monthly for parts. Midway used to give discounts, but lately, that has seemed to disappear and the pricing is the same as regular pricing, so I stopped using them. Plus Midway has a minimum of $40 on orders or they slap a $4 special processing fee. If you do get the C&R FFL, keep the original untouched and make copies of it. The copies you sign and send off to firearms companies. I made an electronic copy of it and just emailed it to companies like Southern Ohio Gun, Century International Arms, Wideners, Palmetto State Armory, JG Sales, Classic Firearms, AIM Surplus, etc. I think with AIM, you can upload a copy to your account directly.  Witj Classic Firearms, they will setup your account with you're listed in the FFL directory and you select yourself when ordering for the shipping address. With Brownells, you have to send them a copy and ask them to set you up a dealer account.

The one thing you have to do with a C&R FFL is keep a log book of all your firearms you purchase under your license. If you sell any of the firearms you purchased with your C&R FFL, you log it out and to who it was sold to. You are also subject to BATF inspections if requested also. Doesn't mean they come to your house and raid you. It just means you have to show the log book and firearms you have possession of or disposition of any you sold, which can be done at their office instead of at your registered address.

That's the kind of information I was hoping to get. Thanks for the informative reply.
