Title: Does anyone add a better front sight to a Witness?
Post by: Clarinath on June 25 2013 09:09:13 PM MDT
I want to replace the front and rear sights on my EAA Witness full size Wonderfinish.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Been a long time since I looked at the front site.  At best it is staked in.  I actually seem to recall that it might be cast into the slide.

Good news/bad news.  Bad news is you will be looking at some gunsmithing to change the sight.  Good news is that since some gunsmithing/machining are involved, there isn't much limit on what you can get.

For the rear sight, I would personally just plan on having the existing cut changed to a Novak cut, which would give you a wealth of options.  Both sight cuts should be about $80-$90.  Rear runs around $50, front around $35.  Install is usually another $30 or so.

You can do both yourself. Just set screws holding them on. I ordered a Dawson front for my Limited yesterday. Henning has those and much more!

IC, my full size definitely is NOT held on by screws.  It is either a stake post or cast in place.

The elite guns I have are held in place by a screw.

Is it old? I haven't seen any new ones that style.

The Witness front sight is cast in place.   >:(

I need to find a gunsmith that will cut the sights in.

What model? May be more cost effective to do a slide or upgrade.

A front site cut is only $35.  Not a bank breaker.

That's cheap. You can't even get a sight put on here for $50. It was $120 for three 10/32 holes drilled and tapped on my Mosin.

That is the price to have Novak do it.  You will, of course have shipping of the slide to and from them.
