Another outrageous gun control bill to be introduced in Congress! Massachusetts Congressman John Tierney said he is introducing a bill to require all newly manufactured handguns to be equipped with technology that allows the guns to only work in the hands of their owners or other authorized users.
:o
Idiot is right, but I say more power to him! Let him chase this red herring.
Paul Revere is rolling in his grave. More than likely has been along with the Founding Fathers.
I believe Idiots is the right word.

Maybe HE can afford the added cost.....I can't!
If it comes to that and a person who legally owned the gun and it malfunctions, can the surviving significant other sue the congress people personally involved in this BS legislation! ??? I would bet Congress would reconsider some of the BS they vote on if they could be personally held accountable... :o
In point of fact, all my guns are already protected by such a system. They are either in a locked safe or on my person, or the person of an authorized user.
My my gun itself is not high tech.
And this legislation is nuts.
Well, we keep re-electing these idiots, don't we?
I don't. I didn't vote for a single incumbent or major party candidate in the last election.
Not saying the others will be better, but they can't be worse.

I used the royal "we", meaning a majority, not us personally. At least I helped one Republican win in our local elections.
It kind of kills me to see some TV comentators (or whoever) say they still have faith in the American public overall, but then a communist gets voted into the Whitehouse twice in a row. Don't get me wrong, I like to give most people I come across in daily life the benefit of the doubt even if just to be nice, but no doubt there are a lot of low information voters out there (as Rush Limbaugh would put it).
Hasn't Colt been working on a failed system that required a ring or bracelet worn by
the gun owner to allow him/or her to be the only one able to fire said gun. Even during
tests they have never been able to get it work reliably very often and they've been working
on this since something like the 80's.
If there were a system that would only allow the owner to shoot the gun. You can bet there would be a built in way for the government to turn the gun OFF so it could NEVER be used against them!
Remember the Second Amendment was put there to protect the people of the USA, against a out of control government.
It is pretty easy to look at the stats and see that any calls for gun regulation "for the children" are bogus. If we are that concerned we would have gun-ed classes in schools as a very first step.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
I wish so many people didn't fit the second criteria. Way too much ignorance out there. But with too much poor child raising and schools teaching nonsense mixed in with good lessons, I guess I'm not too surprised either.
The crowd out there that lives for the next handout and thinks everyone but themselves owes them something is getting way to big. Of course I like to think that group has no excuse for existing at all, but that wouldn't be reality either.

It's sad. I see this with my own daughter. I try to show her the value of a dollar, how to work for what you want. But I only have visitation with her once a week. She lives with her mother who lives on welfare, food stamps and section 8 housing. My daughter asked me the other day "why work, when you can sit at home and get free money? It seems like working is a waste of time." She is 14 years old. She should be thinking about getting her first job soon, but no, her mother has taught her that you don't have to work. The government will give you a place to live, free food and guess what? A free cell phone too if you qualify for food stamps.
I feel for ya. What really sucks is once they've bought into the mindset hook-line-& sinker for any amount of time, it becomes super hard to dissuade them at all, and commonly never happens.

You kidding me? They'll suspend your kid if he makes like a gun with his fingers and says "Bang!).

Ya ain't alone. Mine too. Same scenario, I paid the support (14 years) while the ex sat on her ass. She was a terrific role model. My "support" ended last year thank God, but the only time I see the girls is when they want money. I told them they need to get a job and then I would be willing to help someone that was trying. They ain't working and I ain't seen them since Christmas, 6 months now.

The title of the thread is "idiots"...I didn't say the suggestion had any serious traction most places...Just that it is the reasonable thing to do.
