This is strange for me. I was loading 9mm and suddenly the shell holder was acting funny. I looked at it and a piece of metal was jammed in the back. I couldn't remove it with what I had so took it to a local hardware store and a gentleman was able to remove it but it took a good 15 minutes for him to do it. All fixed now and no charge to me as I know these people and the guy knows I am a reloader and have taken a few problems to him in the past!!! Craig
What brand shell holder?
Hey Wade I think it is a Lee as I have two complete kits with like 12 shell holders in each one. Really though I have like 6 extra I have picked up over the years. This metal was stuck in the perfect place, between the lips that hold the shell in place. Enough to not make the case go all the way in to the holder. Oh well if it wasn't for stuff like this you guys wouldn't have anything to do!!! Ha Ha Craig
This is getting more strange as I go along. I found more junk stuck in the holder so I switched out the holder in the Lyman press that I use for old primer removal. The fixed the T-7 Redding press and I noticed that the bad holder had a "10" stamped on it. I just tried 10mm and the case fits perfect. It does work for 9mm primer removal but will buy a new one next time I am at a gun shop. What a struggle. Craig
I think you need a Lee #19.
Thanks 38_super for the input!! I did find a missing Lee #6 which works for the 9mm so I now have 2 of the number 6's to use with another 9mm shell holder I found yesterday. The problem is all the company's use there own numbering system so after you buy a holder and time marches on the number on it means nothing to me. Craig
You will get a chuckle out of this. I try to reload what I shoot on a daily bases but usually end up with more loaded. Today I ended up with a box of 100 and a box of 50 that I was going to put in the car "extra" box. I have so many loads in the box already I can't get anymore in the box. Oh well they don't go bad!! Yes and a given company may change the dimensions of the same shell holder over time. I bought a Lee die set for 30 Super Carry. The shell holder was too loose. I dug through my Lee shell holders and found a Lee that fit perfectly. I sent Lee an email and they mailed me a shell holder of that number. 30SC case won't quite fit in the new shell holder. However the new shell holder fits the cartridge it is spec'd for so I just put the old one with the 30SC dies set and the new on with the original die set.
