Title: Cold weather
Post by: gadabout on January 14 2023 05:31:48 PM MST
I am loading too much as there is nothing else to do with the weather being so cold I can't even go out to the car to go somewhere as it's to cold. I am even running out of plastic boxes to put the loads in. I am shooting still but reloading more than I shoot so I have loads everywhere!!! Oh well the weather will break sooner or later and I am ready. My indoor range doesn't get much warmer than 68 which is Ok but I would like warmer if it was up to me!!  Craig

It?s been nice here highs in the 30s lows in the teens about 10* above average. I would be happy to take you extra ammo to the range and warm it up for you. 😁

Well it appears I could have a lot of help shooting but I have everyone convinced I can't buy anything to reload so I have plenty for myself. I used to do everyone's loads for free but got tired of that so I am real selective on who I do some rounds for!!!  Craig

Hey Craig, Weather in the 20?s and 30?s isn?t an issue at all, it?s 34 right now in MN and is beautiful out, it?s that 0 to -20 stuff I struggle with. Get yourself some serious cold weather gear and go have some fun 😊

I haven't missed a day shooting so far but really 15 degrees is a real struggle for me. Ha Ha!!     BTW I am looking at a Springfield XDs 9mm with a red dot mounted on top. Very well thought out arrangement. The site is co witnessed with the open site.  I will get it tomorrow.  Craig

With all the pistol brace hype, a friend if mine said he had one. Last week I did a bit of research and decided to load up some specific sbr loads for him. The idea is a complete powder burn out of the short barrel. He has an 8 inch barrel with 1:7 twist. The difficulty I had was the twist rate, barrel length and bullet selection. I'm not really sure what the use for that platform is. My thought is the heavier projectile.
I wanted to load using H322 for a heavier projectile but am out, so I opted for Alliant 10X 21.0 gr under a Speer 55 gr SP with a CCI 450 to light it all up. Out of an 18 inch barrel it should shoot near 2900 fps, I am curious what the short barrel would produce, I don't have a chronograph.
