I bought some 200 grain cast from Montana BW. Hadn?t really found hard load book data for them. But thinking ill probably end up in the 8gr. or so range. But starting at 7.5gr for what I have loaded now. What y?all think? I?d like to get around 1150 fps.
I would stop at 8.2 or at 1160 fps, whichever comes first.
@SQLBULLET
Thank you. ✅
With Longshot I stop at 9.2 grains for 200 grain JHP making 1240 fps from the 5" BBL.
Have tested older Swampfox loads but they were extreme and hard on brass even with good chamber support.
I bet that’s a stout load. I’m pushing 180gr. Jhp at 1300 with 9 grains. With 5” bbl.
Great info. Just what I was looking for.

I have been using Blue Dot for a number of years. blaster told me about Long Shot. His Info helped just in time. It is impossible to buy Blue Dot here. We can buy Long Shot any time at the local Gun Dealers. I have found Long Shot to be a a great powder for my 10mm hand guns.

Have you shot any of these yet? I've got the same bullets and am getting ready to load some.
sqlbullet posted my usual load - 8.2 Longshot, 200 gr cast.
That goes 1150 or so from a 4.6" M&P, a bit over 1200 from a 6" Lone Wolf.
It's pretty much my only 10mm load. I have plenty of 40s if I want lighter/slower bullets.
Simple.

And I are one!
The first batch of 200 grain LBT hardcast from Montana bullets were loaded with Longshot.
Did function tested but didn't chronograph:
LOA: 1.250
7.8
8.1
8.6
As all checked out loaded up a batch of 8.6 and got the following:
RIA TAC II 4.25": 1210
PARA Elite LS Hunter 6": 1260
G40/4 6' stock barrel: 1231
G40/4 9" LW barrel: 1346
Have since sold the RIA (excellent shooter but didn't like the bull barrel) and replaced it with a SIG Nightmare Carry 4.25" that was originally .357 SIG and now has a Fusion barrel.
Tonight loaded up:
205 grain Lyman FP-PC
205 grain MP FP
200 grain MP Cup Point
All have 8.0 grains of Longshot.
Since my woods load for the .41 Magnum are bullets between 200-250 grains in the 1030-1180 fps range just decided that instead of pushing the 10mm hard, get back a little more followup shot control...
Bob
Tested out the loads yesterday and were much more pleasant to shoot.
Fired 27 rounds at a 6" paper plate at 10 yards two handed standing and they all went into 4".

Are you haveing any issues with a plunk test in your M&P barrel? Mine drop in fine, but need a tiny bit of persuasion to fall out.
Sorry for the late reply but haven't been over here for a while...
I don't have an M&P only 1911 and Glocks...
