I'm not brand new to the 1911 but I have acquired an RIA 5 inch slide 10mm. The sights are off enough to make me consider changing them.
My handgun hunting has been primarily revolvers with OEM blade sights.
I have a G29 with a Trijicon U notch sight in the rear, I really like that feature.
From the crew that has carried and shot in the woods, what type of sights are you using? For the ones using the fibre optic front blade, can you pick up the front sight at dusk and dawn low light conditions? If so, do you pair it up with 3 dot fibre optics?
Last, I don't shoot any farther than an archery shot, 35 yards. With a better sight, has anyone seen any improvement on their ability to extend their shooting range, distance?
Please tell me what sights you have on your hunting 1911 rig. Thanks.
I prefer big blocky Bullseye type sights on my hunting pistols. Like a big Bomar, LPA, etc.
I have trouble with extended range precision when the front sight is round, or has dots on it, or anything goofy.
I have killed hogs out to 85 yards offhand using Bullseye type sights.
