Title: DW Bruin
Post by: pacecars on November 02 2022 12:19:47 PM MDT
Another one checked off the bucket list! Picked up this used DW Bruin along with a chest holster, I ordered a belt holster from Doc Barranti

My son has a Bruin and uses it for chasing bears with hounds.  Gun is 100% reliable, accurate, and nicely detailed right from the factory. Only thing we changed was to add a lanyard loop mainspring housing to prevent loss in the laurel hells of the Alleghnies.

Most excellent!

If you don't mind sharing, where'd you get it and how much?

I bought it off 24hourcampfire.com. I think I paid $1700 for it

" Looks like an older "slope nose" front end on the gun.  How hard is it to get it all back together compared to a traditionally shaped recoil spring plug/bushing set-up?

I did not find it any harder than the normal bushings

Ordered a Chambers Custom RMR mount and am having Brandon Buhler mill the slide for it and I just ordered a Trijicon RMR for it

The mount was shipped to Brandon and I just mailed my slide to him yesterday. Now the hard part, waiting!

If you don?t mind saying, what?s Brandon charge for the the slide milling? Also, how would I contact him? I?ve been thinking about having this done to my P220 Elite for deer hunting. What?s the wait time, a few months

It is Buhler Ballistics and his email is buhlerballistics@yahoo.com. I don?t have his phone number. It is $150 plus return shipping and if it is DLC or nitride finished there is an additional $25 charge. Mine is $190 because of DW?s finish. He said a couple of weeks to finish

Thanks, I?ll shoot Brandon an email. After looking into it a bit, Buhler Ballistics and their work comes highly recommended.

Brandon just sent a text a few minutes ago and said it was done! I sent the payment and it is on the way back to me already!

Have always wanted a DW Bruin, so I contacted the owner of one of our larger gun shops to get a price, as well as its availability. I really like this shop, but they don?t wheel and deal like the one I did lots of business with years ago, and are usually a bit high. Below is the owner?s response.

Hello Ken,
The longslide 10mm Bruin would be $2214.84. Unfortunately, lead time would be a complete unknown - we would have to order it directly from CZ/Dan Wesson, and they can sometimes take an extremely long time (we've had to wait over a year for a Bruin before).

Thank you,
-Kate
