Title: New Dan Wesson Razorback
Post by: Jtigertic on September 18 2022 02:29:03 PM MDT
Ok so I've wanted one of these for a few years now that they are discontinued I was worried I may not find one but finally found a new one and bought it. So I got it a few days ago and racked the slide a few hundred times then pulled it apart and cleaned it as I've heard they are super tight on the rails and didn't want it to lock up. I put 100 rounds through it yesterday had a few FTF on the first mag after that not a single hiccup and all I can say is wow I've got a few 10mm but none that shoot quite as nice as this one, I think the trigger and accuracy is what really impressed me. This is my first Dan Wesson firearm. We will see how she fairs after a thousand rounds or so. I was surprised to see that it already came with the flat bottom firing pin stop and I'm not sure what the spring weight is but I'm assuming it's about 21 or 22#?

Congrats!

My 1st DW was a used Razorback. LOVED IT!

I then sold her to fund getting a VBOB. Then bought a VALOR 5"

Dan's are incredible and really a good value. For awhile I wanted a BRUIN/KODIAK. But I retired a few yrs ago and have to tone my purchases down. At this point, I'm REALLY looking at the GIRSAN HUNTER FDE. Probably not quiute as good as the DAN, but much more affordable.

Heres a link to me shootin some UNDERWOOD EXTREME PENETRATOR 140'S through my VBOB.

Congratulations on your new Razorback!

They are fantastic!  Wouldn't part with mine for anything.

Haven't seen anything on the Razorback being discontinued again.  They had previously been discontinued at some point, then reintroduced about 10 years ago.  Did hear something about the DW Valor being discontinued couple years ago but not even confident that turned out to be accurate.

Best of luck with your new Razorback, shoot the heck out of it and enjoy your fine firearm.  I've always used FP-10 to lube and protect & lubricate mine and it's worked very well.

Dan Wesson website shows that the Razorback is still available for $1725.  I got mine in 2012 for about $1200.

Congratulations! This is a fantastic handgun, shoots well and feels great. I have owned the Razorback since 2014 and put several thousand rounds through it. I did need to send back to Dan Wesson in 2017 to have the extractor replaced, but there was no charge. They also ended up doing several mods including beveling the magazine well, reducing the trigger pull and crowning the barrel - all for free!

Having owned a few DW 1911s here's a tip.  Strip, clean and generously lube the gun before your first range trip.  I've never followed the strip and clean every 50 rounds theory but just shot full power ammo and re-lubed as I thought about it. All of our DWs have functioned flawlessly (including our son's Bruin) except for having to tune a few mag followers so the slide would stay open on the last round fired.

Congratulations! Dan Wesson turns out a very nice pistol. I have a Bruin and a Kodiak. Love them both. Excellent build quality for the price.

With both of these coming in at 2K +, I?m starting to think my P220 Elite 10mm was a bargain at $1,399, either way, it?s a lot of money

After messing with multiple 1911 platforms, the Dan Wesson has been the most reliable and smoothest platform I have ever owned!
