Title: Gen4 main springs
Post by: cwlongshot on August 02 2022 05:23:11 AM MDT
Morning guys,

Im having troubles with my G29 main spring...

Id like to install a heavier one I picked up a wolfee kit 23#. Discovered the factory unit is not rebuildable.
So I bought a Wolffe stainless steel main spring assembly. But its factory spring weights.

It has 3/32 allens in each end... But I cannot get it to unscrew to change them out!  I have searched and searched and nothing is on the web anywhere I can find on how this is done. I emailed Wolffe over a week ago. NO reply.
I found lone wolffe sells these as well and contacted them but no reply as yet.

I assume its loc tited and probably defeated with heat but heat WHERE? Where is thread or is this too not a disassemble-able part???

Any one here offer any help?

I have a Lone Wolf and ISMI. Both were pretty obvious and were easily installed or springs changed. I used blue loctite. I havent had an issue with it staying tight and it wasnt difficult to remove either to change the spring.

Is this a dual spring assembly? I think a lot of people revert back to a Gen 3 type single spring set up when changing spring weights. They make adapters for this purpose.

Yes two spring.

I inserted two allens and promptly twisted one off... (stripped wrench).

Where is the threads I think it has thread locker.

I know...Late two the party since you have already stripped parts, but maybe this video will help.

I know it is actually for a aftermarket assembly, but you can see where they apply heat and how the secure the assembly, which may provide some clues to the factory one.
