Just curious about reliability and accuracy.
I am not. So this is just internet opinion.
I looked for pricing and ended up on Sportsmans Warehouse website (https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-gear-gun-supplies/handguns/c/cat139633?q=%3Arelevance%3ACartridge%3A10mm%2BAuto%3ABarrelLength%3A6in%3AinStockFlag%3Atrue&text=#)
In stock they have the Girsan for $650 and the Rock Island for $1000. The Rock has a longer rail and a better name/history in the 1911 game. Then I noticed the fit of the beavertail to the frame. Rock Island is clean. Girsan has a gap you could drive a truck through.
The Girsan may be accurate and reliable. But I would try to find the extra $350 to get the Rock if it were joining my collection.
I know this thread is a little old but I bought one of the Girsan 6" hunters. It shoots great. It needs a better front sight but other than that, I can't find a flaw. It was $669 at my lgs. Fit and finish is top notch on mine.

Lots of nice weapons coming out of Turkey these days
All the Girsans that I have seen were seemingly well made. Dry firing has been a pleasant experience. No slop that would cause me concern.
BillinOregon, did you ever go through with the Girsan?
My experience with the hunter was terrible.
