Was wanting to try a handful of Hunter Supply 175 gr wadcutter hardcast before trying to find a mold for it to make sure it'll feed in my AR and was wondering if anyone has a load worked up for it already. I expect they'll load very similar to 180 gr pills, but wanted to ask in advance before I bother my buddy with quickload to get some numbers on it.

Also not sure to try to clean them and powder coat them or not. But at the velocities I expect them to reach, may not lead up the barrel too bad on their own?
I had mostly used 10.4 grains of Blue Dot under the 170-175-180 cast bullets form the pistols.

Wow. Those are the tightest numbers I have ever seen. :o
Unfortunately, I don't have any blue dot, but I will watch out for some.
And will get on the waiting list wherever I can find it as well.
While shooting the 180 gr fmj truncated round nose, was doing pretty well. I suspect the data for 175's would be pretty close. Or at least within reason and the right ballpark.
I'll be having a buddy of mine see what quickload spits out once I get the bullets in hand and can measure the length of the bullet to find out how to seat them and at least give me some ideas for a starting point.
Other than the flash, BD is phenomenal powder for accuracy, as well as BE-86

Thank you Kenk. I have some BE-86 that I I was going to see if they had any data listed on their site. It did pretty well when testing the 180 gr pills.
sqlbullet, I appreciate that data for #9 as well. I hadn't seen any commercial data listed for #9 except for the lighter bullets. #9 was the best powder/performance that I got with the 155 hornady, so I'll be sure to try that as well.
Looks like the powder charge is reduced some from the 155. Probably due to the longer bullet. But, the performance should still be really good.
I'm mostly wanting to try out these hard cast to make sure my gun will feed them and all before buying a mold. Plus, I guess if I have a decent load will save me time later closer to deer season too trying to work a load up for it then.
I have used nearly the same bullet (home cast) since the 80's and what you'll find is the lube is smoky no getting around that, one thing for sure some powders make it worse.
I cleaned a bunch by boiling and washing them in acetone after I started powder coating a year or so ago and never looked back... powder coating is the way to go for more than the smoke issue. You can load PC'd bullets more like TMJ's, the barrel bore stays clean as does the exterior of the gun and YOUR interior :-)
Unfortunately in my zeal to load before Florida's summer a few winters back I made over a thousand of the smoke makers so I use up 50 at a time when I go to the range with the PC's bullets. Whatever you do, shoot a couple of hundred with the wax lube before making my mistake of loading too many.
Yeah, I've been casting my own bullets for a while.
I have several color powder coats, and have done some, but still relatively new to powder coating.
I looked at some lubed and uncoated 155 gr bullets the other day and the company said they did OK without a gas check up to 1500 or maybe 1600 fps, but I'm certain out of my carbine will exceed that.
I was going to start another topic, but may as well ask in this one since you brought it up.
Does anyone know how powder coating will hold up to upwards of 1800 fps?
Even the plated berry's bullets were pretty low in regards to how they were expected to hold up, so I was curious about whether to scrape the lube off of the ones that I bought and try to powder coat or not?
I only bought 100 of the 175 wadcutters to try in the gun for starters to make sure the gun will feed them first before buying a mold. I'm sure I won't get any more than 1500 fps out of them. And that's being pretty optimistic. 180's were ~1440 fps average. So, 175's aren't likely to gain much.
