Title: M&P 10mm Range Report.
Post by: Graybeard on March 16 2022 04:37:40 PM MDT
I picked up my 4? NTS M&P yesterday. Per usual, took it home, field stripped it, and cleaned and lubed it. There was a surprising amount of fine black stuff in the barrel. It appeared to be a fine powdered version of the finish. It was also bone dry inside.

Off I went to the range today, with my XDM 10 4.5 for comparison. Both ran perfectly. I had an assortment of ammo including: 155gr XTPs, 180gr Zero JHPs, 180gr XTPs, and 180gr Armscor FMJs, loaded from medium to fairly hot and from 1.250 to 1.260?. The Armscor FMJs have a very wide meplat compared to others and at 1.260?, if there was going to be a feeding problem, those would probably be the cause. Fortunately, that wasn?t the case.

The M&P was the clear winner. The grip and subsequent controllability is much better than the XDM and any of the 10mm Glocks I?ve fired. Accuracy wasn?t my main focus today, but it seems fine during off hand shooting. The taller sights are a little bit foreign to me. I?ll probably never put a red dot on it, so some TFOs may be in the future.

The trigger is better than the trigger that came with my XDM 10. It?s not as good as the Powder River Precision trigger the XDM has now. It does have a very short reset and a noticeable feel.

If you?re on the fence about these, buy one. It?s the best polymer framed 10mm so far, in my opinion. The price was right, too. Ordered online for $648 at Sportsman?s warehouse. The price was dropped when I picked it up in the store to $609.

Hi Ken, nice to hear from you. I should have also mentioned the replaceable grip straps for my gen 1 9mm full-size fit this gun perfectly. The medium for the 9mm appears to be exactly the same size as the small for the 10. Using that combination, they feel exactly the same in the hand.

Thanks, in the next couple of months I will be obtaining a Labradar and hope to post some load testing shortly afterward.

Now if I could find some extra mags for this one......... Looking at you Smith&Wesson ;)
