Anyone have any pet loads for 124gr 9mm powder coated RN with BE-86 or Power Pistol? At this point, FPS isn?t nearly as critical as accuracy. Also, according to Alliant with their BE-86 powder, they are recommending an OAL of 1.12 for a 125gr Lead RN, does that sound like a good OAL for most 9mm weapons? For that bullet weight / bullet style
Thanks in advance
My standard blasting load for 124gr FMJ is 5.3gr BE-86 @ 1.140
Great general function in Glocks. Not maxed out at all but runs very well with acceptable accuracy.
Hey Ken I shoot 9mm 124 or 125g everyday in JHP Power Pistol is the best although I haven't tried BE-86. The load I use is 6.0 with 6.3 being max by Alliant data on the net. The COL is 1.12 Your lead should not be much difference. Oh yeah Merry Christmas to you and everyone. Craig
Thanks, and you guys as well 😊
Haven?t loaded 9?s in a while, so should be kinda fun
Hornady published max data for their 124gr FMJ RN at 1.150 is 5.2gr BE-86. 1100 FPS. Fairly conservative max. Generally BE-86 seems to be about .5gr below power pistol in 9mm charges.
5.5 gr Power Pistol and a 124 RMR HP at oal of 1.055 is my standard load that works in ALL my 9mms
I know this is an older topic, and I apologize for the necro, but I used some BE-86 for some of my 124gr defensive loads and thought I would share.
I got a Sig P365 a while back and was wanting to load the mag with hot loads in case God forbid that I have to use them. I was trying to get as close to the sig short barrel commercial ammo as I could.
Since the p365 is mostly a snub nose nine, that was the fastest load that I could find. It's a handful and you probably don't want a steady diet of them because it's pretty snappy, but here's the recipe that I used. Haven't shot any through any of the 5 inch (or longer) barrels.
3" barrel = 1090 fps average
4" barrel= 1175 fps average
Both shot over chrono and real world numbers out of my guns
124 gr speer gold dot
1.120" COL
5.9 gr (max)
Thanks John
