Title: S&W M&P 10mm 4 inch in hand
Post by: pacecars on December 16 2021 08:28:32 PM MST
Picked up the new M&P 10mm with 4 inch barrel and no safety today! Brought it home and mounted a Swampfox Liberty red dot sight on it. I installed the Med-Large grips and it felt good. It surprised me since I have rather large hands and it felt better than the large grips. Can?t wait to shoot it

what kind of recoil is a 4 inch giving you on it? I'm getting my 4.6 later this week

I feel the recoil is very snappy. Was going to woods carry it but think I will stick with the G20

Thanks for that info. Could you tell us what ammo you were using?

Edit: Just saw your other post. Underwood 200gr HC.

How did you mount the Swampfox red dot on it. I'm thinking of doing the same thing. 7 plates came with the pistol and haven't a clue as to which one to use.

For 20 years I've been begging for an American made 10mm, semi auto that IS NOT a 1911 with a manual safety. I've settled for foreign guns for a long time. Tanfoglio, Glocks, Springfield, etc have all done the job, but what I've truly wanted was a new Smith, Ruger or Colt. I prefer guns with a safety, I guess that's why I chose the Tanfoglio over Glock for so long.

This M&P is exactly what I've been waiting for. But damn I really like that new compact XD Elite for concealed carry. Might have to buy both.

Now I just have to convince the wife.

I got the Swampfox Justice mounted on my S&W 10mm and have it sighted in at 25yds so far.  I initially started with Blazer aluminum 200gr ammo to get on paper and then the Blazer brass case 180gr ammo. Final sight in with the Hornady Custom 180gr XTP rounds for hunting. I have some Underwood 200gr XTP ammo to try out and some Sig VCrown 180gr ammo I'll try out with it after testing some Sig 180gr FMJ ammo.
Recoil wasn't bad with Blazer ammo in the 10MM but you could sure tell the step up in power with the Hornady Custom loads. I'll try some of my Fenix ammo in it as well.

I also sighted in my Super Redhawk 41 Mag with the iron sights and after putting a Bushnell 2-6x scope on it out to 35yds so far. I load Hornady 210gr XTP in the 41 Mag.

I was looking for a holster option for the M&P 10mm and choices were limited due to the high sights. I had a Fobus paddle holster  for the HK USP .40 that I had
and it works fine for the M&P 10mm.

Unless you are really looking to run an optic and co-witness, just swap out those goofy tall things with a set of meprolight tru dot night sights. Then any MP 45 holster should fit it.

I put a O-50yd all purpose night sight on it with the Swampfox Justice Red Dot and had the Fobus HK holster in the unused parts drawer just waiting to be repurposed. Bam, now I have more money for ammo and mags.
Being the frugal sort, it fits in better with my personal Mission Statement, plus leaves more money for all the handgun mouths I have to feed. My use for this pistol will be mainly outdoor pursuits and I dislike holsters that I can't hose the mud off them, lol.

I tried to CCW a Glock Gen 5 G19 MOS with a red dot and the tall co-witness sights.  They are ridiculous and snag on everything.  Evaluating the XD-M Elite 3.8" OSP 10mm with a Vortex Venom red dot on it now.  No more snag sights for me.

I hear ya, I didn't buy the S&W M&P 2.0 10mm 4.6" for CCW. I bought it for hunting and target shooting.
I have a Glock 43X 9mm for CCW or a Glock 23 Gen3 .40 + 9mm Lone Wolf barrel for it.
