Title: Gun shows as a hobby.
Post by: gnappi on November 14 2021 12:57:45 PM MST
I have had this hobby since the 70's. For whatever the entrance fee and parking (grrr parking fees) costs are it's hard to equal the enjoyment and rewards shows give me even if I leave empty handed. I go to every show within a 50 mile radius sometimes more.

The movies? Nah... The DVD / Blu ray give me 10x the enjoyment. Not much else left except clothes shopping ... Ho hum.

Now gunshows? They're a quest. For what? Everything!

Past and recent discoveries have always kept my bank account slimmer but today SIX pounds of Red Dot (for .40 and .45) for under $90? An NIB unfired early 2000's  SS COLT 9mm (now are .38 super) 1911 my "holy grail" gun last week.

I don' smoke or drink so I have no other vices to support, Sooo... Does anyone else have this "hobby" ? Are you still married? ;-)

What finds have you gotten?

Yes,I have the 'hobby'. There are many gun shows here in NE Ohio. Medina, Berea, Akron, Warren. I also hit the Mansfield and Lima shows. Been to Monroeville (Pittsburgh) and Novi Michigan. I'll also drive down to North Carolina for their shows, while I'm down there I'll tie in some rollercoaster riding at Carowinds. Been to a couple in Florida.
It's good to see different vendors and faces.

My wife says I have too many hobbies. She's probably right.

Lol, if gun shows were my hobby, my spending / investments would likely be way out of control

it's like my wife, Harbor Freight and hammers.  Every time we visit Harbor Freight, she heads to the hammer aisle and picks out a specialty hammer she thinks is "cute".  She even gets excited when I mention I need something from there since she gets another hammer for her collection.
