Hello,
I purchased a P40 in 2018 and hadn't had any trouble with it until a few months ago.
I've put at least 500 rounds through it and recently started having FTF's.
The round is partially loaded into the chamber, it does this 1-2 times a mag, often on the last round.
It first happened on some cheap ammo and continues to happen with Sig Elite and Underwood Hardcast and these are the only ammo I have currently.
I've cleaned it thoroughly, lubed it paying attention to the cam, barrel, space behind the feed ramp and rails.
I have 5 mags, and the FTF occurs with each.
Any P40 owners have any insight? Thank you.
Could it be a sign the recoil spring needs to be replaced?
Look at the guide rod also. Some of the earlier models had plastic ones. My first one had one it got a chewed up with just a few hundred rounds through it. GP later had to replace the entire pistol due to an unrelated issue and that one had a metal guide rod. This tells me that they are probably aware of that being a problem.
Thank you for the replies.
I just emailed Global Ordnance to see if I can purchase a recoil spring from them, the guide rod in this pistol is metal.
Hopefully this fixes the issue and I can return to enjoying the gun.
So did the recoil spring fix your problem? Just curious.
