Just received and loaded up some of these black Barnes CHP with some BE-86 and figured I would post some of my results. I used 7.4grains of BE seated to 1.255" crimped to .415" and shot 2 into a gel block at 8ft. The result was 13-14" of penetration with the attached expansion through 8 layers of cotton T-shirt material. The recoil was minimal and I got an average velocity of around 1273fps. Figured I would report in case others are interested.
That looks effective for sure
Thanks for the repo jmm701, they look promising
jmm701 Thanks for posting the results. I have some of those loaded up they are great performers.
Caliber- 10mm
BARNES TAC-XP .400" Dia.
140 grain Black Oxide
Case- StarLine
Primer- CCI- 300 LP
Power Pistol 9.8 grains
Velocity-1400 fps COL 1.2570"
I would have expected higher velocity than that with such a light Bullet. Of course the solid copper bullets do eat up case capacity though.
The Shadow's results are more in line with what I would expect.
I would like to know where you found those projectiles though.

Yeah I plan on upping the velocity a bit. This was just the first load I tried and was surprised by the gel results. I'm hoping to get closer to what shadow got maybe in the 1375-1400fps range and around 16-18" of penetration. I should be able to since there were no signs of overpressure with this load. I got them off a guy on gunbroker. He pulls them. I got 250 for around $85.
Not a bad price considering the times we are in
