Title: Prospective 6.5 Creedmoor purchase
Post by: Kenk on March 02 2021 09:16:24 AM MST
Have been wanting a 6.5 Creedmoor for some time, but until reloading components are more readability available, I think I'll hold off... what a rip, $49.15 for 20rd's. I'm not sure of their cost pre-pandemic, but seems really high (like everything else)

I agree, hold off if you can, Kenk.  I paid an average price of $0.93/rnd for match and hog factory loads before the scamdemic.  Of course,  I reload, so no issues for me for some time.

Not trying to talk you into it, but I recently got into the 6.5 CM. I've been lucky enough to acquire almost 600 rounds of factory ammo and 700 bullets for reloading. Most of the ammo is the 129 gr Hornady American White Tail. The first 100 rounds cost me $28/box. My dad picked me up 12 boxes at $24/box at Fleet Farm in Carver. I got some 140 gr Hornady ELD Match for $33/box and 80 rounds of Federal Fusion @ $24/box. I did pay $40 a box of 100 for 140 gr Hornady Match bullets on Gunbroker. Not sure if that was inflated or not. Everything else ( Berger VLD hunting, Speer Gold Dot and Barnes TTSX) at normal retail pricing online. I have requested notification when items come in stock from MidwayUSA, Midsouth Shooters, Grafs, and Powder Valley. I also watch ammoseek. Although I am not watching as much now as I have enough to last me a while.

The trick is patience. Daily trips to the store. I have the luxury of having days off during the week when most people are at work. I also work nights so I am able to go anytime. For me Scheels and Fleet Farm are within 5 minutes of each other and 8 minutes from my home. Fleet Farm here has the ammo locked up and you have to ask for it. Scheels is starting to have ammo on the shelves more frequently. I have been watching Gunbroker for ammo and have noticed prices coming down from these sellers who are flipping the ammo for 4x retail.

I love my Bergara B14 rifle.
