Title: 10 MM Brass
Post by: badhatharry on February 24 2021 11:09:49 AM MST
Anybody have a source for some 10MM brass?  Preferably new but definitely unbulged.   Thanks

The way things are right now you're more likely to spot a Bigfoot carrying a unicorn horn. Good luck with your search.

badhatharry, have you heard about "Pass Through Sizing" or "Bulge Buster"?
I use the LEE factory crimp Die a my pass through sizer and it does an excellent job of ironing out the bulges (Not Smiled) cases.  I use a pullet push pin from a LEE bullet sizer and stack the brass on that pin and push my cases up and through the carbide ring of the FDC with the upper guts removed.  Then I do my regular sizing with the RCBS carbide sizing and decapping die.

Here is the FCD setup I use to pass through size all 10mm, 40S&W, 357Sig and 9x25Dillon brass...The piece of cardstock is there to protect the threads & brass in the upper part of the die.

I basically do the same thing, The_Shadow, but with the Bulge Buster kit.  Works great.

I was able to get some 10mm brass last month by getting on the "notify me" list on Midway's website,  badhatharry.

Yeah I do that with a Lee BB and I get it to pass the plunk test, but I still feel that the case has been weakened at the bulge and re-shaping it won't cure that.  Call me OCD but I really have a great deal of respect for 10mm pressures.    :o  Thanks

And oh yes sparky,  I'm on every "Please Notify" i could find.

Yes that is very understandable to be on the side of caution!  Some time back I did a test of a seriously SMILED case, one which the primer pocket was also stretched.  It was an Underwood loading. That brass was pass through sized (as a test) and it did bring the brass back to a size that would fit the case gauge and just enough primer pocket to hold the primer again.  It did not remove the SMILE line.  ::)
I loaded that case up and shot it again! (DO NOT TRY THIS)  :o  The primer was blown out but the brass did survive!

While this piece was STARLINE BRASS is is not to discourage the use of their brass!  Starline Brass is best and a very good product!

Used to run my 40 and 10mm brass through the "bulge buster"as well, but ever since I got the carbide sizer dies (Lee set that loads both 40 and 10), I no longer need to do that.

I ordered 1000 10mm cases from Starline in November and got them in February. Best stuff in my opinion

Without a doubt the Starline 10mm brass is the best. And my 650XL feeds it so well.
