Title: Kimber lightweight in 45apc hammer follows slide
Post by: 38-40 on January 24 2021 06:10:27 PM MST
My son bought one new in November so due to the ammo situation have not shot it much perhaps 50 rounds. Today we took it to the range. Before the first shot the hammer followed the slide to the half cock notch with out finger on the trigger. Happens from slide lock release or by hand. So brought it home and gave it a through cleaning now if the gun is pointed down it will still do it but if held level or bbl up will not. So not being familiar with 1911s as I am a revolver user what are your thoughts. We will call Kimber on Monday to send it back for repair. Because  it has aluminum frame could the slide closing cause this because of the light weight frame.

Thank you

Sounds like the sear/triple spring is not installed correctly.

This is what it should look like:

This video shows how to get to it.
