I was recently graced with some complimentary CLP – 4 Cleaner /Lubricant. Any thoughts on its overall functionality and or worth for firearm cleaning and lubrication
Thanks
Ken
I use it as a general purpose cleaner all the time with good results. It cuts powder and such quite well out of my competition gun.
I use Lucas Extreme for lube though.

Thanks Alabusa,
Ordered up some of the Lucas Extreme to give it try, Thanks man!
I've used CLP as a cleaner for years. I still use Tetra grease on the rails of 1911s, but CLP works fine as a lube for most everything else. It's very hard to wipe off, seems to stay where you put it, and doesn't seem to dry out as fast as some oils.
Thanks Graybeard!
You're welcome.
FYI, I've also used CLP as a rust preventative on carbon steel knives and it works very well.

You are most welcome. I honestly feel that you will love the Lucas. It doesn't take much and works really well, sticking up the action nicely.
I help with a scholastic clay target team and carry Lucas in my range bag it works great kids shoot between 200 -250 rounds a day and use it to clean the semi autos works great keeps them running with out issues.
Thanks 38-40,
It's interesting that trapshooting is the second biggest high school sport in MN 😀

Like most of you, I have accumulated many brands of the "good" stuff. After reading this test by our very own Day at the Range, I bought the large spray can from Midway added to a needful order.

I also go through some non-chlorinated brake cleaner with a toothbrush that is inexpensive by comparison to knock the crud off lots of places. A little Valvoline synthetic wheel bearing grease for the rails and I now have a system to use with confidence.
Whadayathink?
Great article, Thank you!
I like to use Breakfree CLP on the bore, but for lube I think Weapons Shield, EWL 2000, and ALG Go Juice are better. Sometimes I use just the slightest bit of Super Lube on the rails, sometimes I use one of those three.
